If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it!

Cogsworth: As you can see, the pseudo-façade was stripped away to reveal the minimalist Rococo design. Note the unusual inverted vaulted ceilings.
[as he, Lumiere, and Belle walk past the knights in armor, they turn their heads to follow them]
Cogsworth: This is yet another example of the late neoclassic Baroque period. And, as I always say, “If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it!”
[notices the knights with their heads turned]
Cogsworth: As you were!
[the knights turn their heads back forward]

-The Beauty and the Beast (1991)

I developed my interest in architecture eversince I was still a kid by watching cartoons and by tagging along my mom whenever she has to go somewhere related to her work. It was my idea of fun. While my mom was on business, I would go around the area checking on the structure and I find myself enjoying the view up to the littlest detail. Little did I know, I get to have a few friends from the place also! From there on, I got to establish my curiosity in architecture and interior design.

When I do my design work, I can honestly say that I am into modern minimalist concepts. I admire its simplicity and functionality. However, I also on the other hand, appreciate classical design. As people say, I am an old soul. When it comes to the classics, I really am into baroque style.

Baroque style evolved in Rome during the 16th Century falling under one of the renaissance phases. Characteristic of the Baroque architecture includes the following: Chiaroscuro (use of light and shade to produce dramatic effect), High frescoed ceiling, use of trompe l’oeil and the blending of painting and architecture, Fragmentary or deliberately incomplete architectural elements, external façade often characterized by a dramatic central projection, etc.

I was first introduced to this type of design from the movie “Beauty and the Beast”, and I had no idea then that it was called as such.

The library! Exquisite!

At the dining table. Fancy!

Now let’s see what it looks like when it’s mixed up with a modern touch.

Modern baroque- so chic!

Patterns livens up a dull wall!

So girly!

Black and white. Elegant.

Gotta love Kamiseta's Formal balance.

Doggie print! I like!

Everything looks feminine with flowers in it. Even Katie Holmes says so.

Beat the Heat…Indoors.

Summer at its peak! But I’m home on a holiday, too lazy to go out because of the crazy heat! Metro Manila had been experiencing 36 to 37 degrees at its max for the past few weeks already.

While wanting to beat the heat outdoors, I wanted to kill time by playing around with my camera. My furbaby, Venice, just taken a bath and I thought of having her as my subject.   It was nice playing around with her and her beanie bear, taking advantage of the available light in the room.

Thank you, Venice for making my time worthwhile! 🙂

Hearty laugh for a healthy heart

After watching our first ever movie for 2012 which is the Hunger Games, the boyfriend and I roamed around the three big malls in Makati amidst the heat of the scorching april sun. A few hours later, we felt the need to eat dinner as we have been walking around for almost an hour or two already.

North Park Glorietta 5. One of our favorite chinese resturants in the metro. That’s where we had our hearty dinner. Double pork ribs, brocolli in oyster sauce, siomai, 1 rice, yes, we shared rice and fried bread whith cream dip. My first time not to order the usual wanton noodles there as we are trying to cut down the carbs.

Starbucks. The laughing part begins. I was trying to explain to him about white wine and red wine. To cut the story short, here goes our conversation.

Me: The best white wine can be found in Champagne. (referring to france)

Him: Brazil?

Me: (blank stare) France! Anu bah!

There. We couldn’t stop laughing.

One month from now, we will be on our 7th year already. We are really looking forward for more laughter in the future. Who knows, Brazil or France, wherever it may be, laughter will always keep us together.

Power to Wow

I know, I know. I’m waaay past my teenage years already for this best-friends-turned-into-an-item thingy, I admit, I was a bit tickled pink after watching the clip, but hey! I’m a sucker for short films. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with the use of my SLR’s video function. Sometimes I find myself lurking into the web for nice videos that might inspire me to make my own. After stumbling upon youtube and saw this go “viral” on the net, I just find this short story’s cinematography awesome. Beautiful location they have here. This by the way is an ad by a local whitening lotion here in the Philippines which is SkinWhite. These two kids got the chemistry, right?

Yay! Vacay!

Hooray for long vacations! It’s been quite a while since I posted my first entry. Since the lent season is up ahead, I’ll make sure that I’ll be catching up for some writing. This will be a very long weekend indeed. I also need some serious catching up on my snooze, and I mean plenty of ’em.  I just hope I will be able to concentrate on writing not knowing what my friends or family are  planning to during the 5-day vacay. Again, Hooray!

Getting There

How cool is this? Having my very first website wherein I can write about anything about (almost) everything? Starting off with my first love- Architecture! Perhaps, Music. Can be Photography. How about people? People that catches my interest and made a big difference in my life. Or places that I love going to, or would want to go to. Or I may also need to get in touch with one of my passion as a kid, which is writing. It’s not too late to beef up my vocabulary again and make this brain of mine work some more. Good exercise though. Thanks to my manong Nhick for the opportunity of having my own place on cyberspace! Now, the next step for me to do is to think of a title for this site. A catchy one. Suggestions are most welcome. Yay! Day 1. Complete.
